How Sleep Impacts Weight Loss (podcast)

As stated by Lucas Rockwood, internationally-renowned yoga trainer, TEDx speaker, writer, and host of the Lucas Rockwood Show, "if you sleep badly, it can create a metabolic storm that leads to elevated stress hormones, food cravings, and increased fat storage. Poor sleep makes it very difficult to manage your weight over time."

Recently, I had the honor of being a guest on Lucas's talk show. Lucas wanted to know more about my book SLEEP IT OFF, a Revolutionary Guide to Losing Weight, Beating Diabetes, and Feeling Your Best through Optimal Rest and how together we could help his listeners optimize their sleep for a leaner body.

During our 30-minute chat, we talked about the role of sleep in our ability to manage our weight.

We talked about:

  • How poor sleep can lead to weight gain;
  • Why daytime physical and mental activity can improve sleep;
  • When to track our sleep and when to stop;
  • Common missteps with caffeine and alcohol;
  • How to ease our way into change.

Listen to this episode and discover many more on the The Lucas Rockwood Show website. Among many others, I have really enjoyed Episode #458 with Gretchen Rubin (The Happiness Project). Of course, you can also listen on your favorite podcast platforms.
